Course Description:

This one-day course provides a comprehensive review of NFPA 25. Attendees will learn the scope of the standard, the owner’s responsibilities, requirements for record keeping, as well as the liabilities associated with performing this work on a contracted basis. The changes to the standard will be highlighted along with the ongoing interpretations of how to apply the requirements of the standard. Attendees will participate in an in depth discussion regarding the inspection and testing of wet and dry sprinkler systems, standpipe and hose systems, fire pumps, and the associated valves used in these systems. Attendees will leave the seminar with a greater understanding on how to apply the requirements for all water-based systems.

Bob Caputo, CFPS, CET

Bob Caputo has more than 25 years experience in the fire protection community including all areas of the fire sprinkler industry. A former fire fighter trained in fire suppression at the U.S. Naval Fire Fighting Training Center in San Diego, Bob has been an instructor since 1989, teaching seminars for both American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) and NFPA. He holds fire sprinkler contracting licenses in multiple states, serves on the NFPA 13 Installation and NFPA 25 Committees, and is the author of AFSA’s Project Management Tools program. He was named FPC Magazine’s “Man of the Year” in 1997 and was named San Diego County Fire Prevention Officer of the Year in 1994. He is also the 2017 recipient of the AFSA Henry Parmalee Award.

Certificate of Completion:

  • Each participant registered, completing the sign-in sheet and attending the full training session will receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate will include the participants name, training subject, date, number of training hours completed and the Fire Smarts name, address and phone number.
  • Certificates can be used as supporting documentation for CPD points required for NICET certification. This applies to the “Additional Education” section of NICET Policy #30 on Continuing Professional Development that allows for CPD points for education to advance, broaden and enhance technical knowledge and job skills
 

Live Classroom Training

This course is presented in a directing and discussion style of teaching. A clear and detailed presentation of the content is given with the aid of PowerPoint presentation slides. Group discussion is encouraged to facilitate understanding and practical application exercises will be given where applicable to the content. A review test is given to measure learning and retention.
