CEUs: Based on 1.5 contact hours of training (see CEUs tab for details)

Course Description: This course will explore the full range of available protection options using in-rack sprinklers contained in Chapter 25 of NFPA 13 ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems’. This will include use associated with CMDA, CMSA and ESFR fire sprinklers. The presenter will also discuss special circumstances that involve solid shelf rack conditions and standalone in-rack designs not requiring balance with the overhead sprinklers. Installation and design criteria for the in-rack sprinklers will be covered, including the number of installed levels and vertical position, the horizontal spacing and location within the rack, and the discharge criteria and sizing of in-racks.

Learning Objectives:
•Locate the specific options available for use with overhead CMDA, CMSA and ESFR sprinklers
•Explain how to select the appropriate in-rack sprinkler installation and design criteria to include in-rack sprinkler type, discharge flow/pressure and location
•Understand the impact of solid shelving and the in-rack sprinkler installation required
•Describe how to select alternative in-rack only designs that do not require balancing with the overhead sprinklers
