The presenter will review the various types of biometric readers along with their capabilities and shortcomings. Participants will also learn some of the history of biometrics, including its use in government espionage, and why there are some who oppose the use of this technology. His extensive security experience includes being the Security and Emergency Management Director at Rush University Medical Center and Vice President of RJA/SAKO. He has authored many published technical papers on physical security and consulted with the top healthcare facilities in the country. Lauris is a former technical committee member of NFPA 730/731 and has a Criminal Justice and Psychology degree from the University of Illinois.
