NFPA 13D Prescriptive Pipe Method - Recorded Webinar Course Details Instructor CEUs/Additional Info Format: Instant Access Recorded Webinar CEUs: Based on 1.5 contact hours of training (see CEUs tab for details) Course Description: Residential fire sprinkler systems installed in accordance with NFPA 13D ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes’ and the International Residential Code (IRC) Section P2904 are primarily life safety in their purpose. The protection of these residential occupancies is unique with its distinct requirements for the use and location of fire sprinklers. This course will assist the designer in understanding the various calculation options available and focuses on the requirements for pipe sizing the fire sprinkler piping utilizing the prescriptive methods outlined in these two documents. Learning Objectives: •Know the objectives of residential fire sprinkler protection •Explain the relationship between IRC Section P2904 and NFPA 13D •Locate and apply the various pipe sizing methods provided for in NFPA 13D and IRC Section P2904 •Understand examples of utilizing the prescriptive pipe sizing method Ralph Bless, P.E., SET, CFPS Ralph has 40 years’ experience in fire protection including a broad range of water based and special hazard system design, code consulting and fire protection engineering services. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in six states, a Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Level IV NICET senior fire sprinkler layout technician and holds three additional NICET certifications, as well as ten state licenses. Ralph serves on six NFPA committees including the NFPA 1 Fire Code, NFPA 15 covering Water Spray Systems, and NFPA 915 covering remote inspections. He chairs the technical committee for NFPA 232 covering Record Storage and serves on the NFPA 13 Installation Technical Committee and Correlating Committee. This certificate will include the participants name, training subject, date, number of training hours completed and the Fire Smarts name, address and phone number. Certificates will comply with International Code Council (ICC) CEU requirements for ICC approved training courses. Fire Smarts is an approved training provider of the ICC. ICC CEU’s are assigned based on 0.1 CEU per training contact hour. Certificates can be used as supporting documentation for CPD points required for NICET certification. This applies to the “Additional Education” section of NICET Policy #30 on Continuing Professional Development that allows for CPD points for education to advance, broaden and enhance technical knowledge and job skills. Certificates can be used as supporting documentation for credit hours required for re-certification as part of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) program.
